Christian Scott (Christian aTunde Adjuah)
Christian Scott (Christian aTunde Adjuah)
Also known as Christian aTunde Adjuah, Christian Scott is perhaps one of the most accomplished jazz musicians of his generation. As a two-time Edison Award-winning, Grammy Award-nominated trumpeter, composer, and producer, his playing style and compositions have been unanimously recognized as ahead of their time and "usher[ing] in new era of jazz." (NPR)

Since his debut in 2005, the accolades have not stopped. Scott’s Grammy-nominated international record debut "Rewind That" was heralded as “arguably the most remarkable premiere the genre has seen in the last decade” by Billboard Magazine, earning Scott two prominent features on their cover, and inclusion in their list of “Ones to Watch in 2006”. The BBC proclaimed the artist's fourth album, the Edison Award winning "Yesterday You Said Tomorrow," to be the “Best Jazz Album in 50 years.” And his newly released double album "Christian aTunde Adjuah" has been labeled by Billboard Magazine as “a tour de force masterwork” and has led critics and artists alike to dub Scott the progenitor of “Stretch Music”, a jazz rooted, genre-blind musical form attempting to “stretch” jazz rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass as many other musical forms, languages and cultures as possible.

Along with Christian phenomenal performance, we will be celebrating his birthday with his twin brother Kiel Scott. The crowd will be electric.

Kiel Adrian Scott is an award-winning writer-director whose films have has screened internationally, playing on HBO, PBS, CineMAX, Shorts TV, Centric and BET. Scott’s short film, The Roe Effect, winner of several major film festivals, including but not limited to, Best Short Film at the HBO Short Film Competition, Best Narrative Short at the Urbanworld Film Festival and the Saatchi & Saatchi NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE Producer’s Award, has garnered Scott high praise. Of the film, Academy Award winning director Jonathan Demme remarked “…exquisitely made, fantastic in every single aspect, the themes are profound. Scott is an incredibly exciting new American filmmaker. Bravo!” Scott’s latest script Epilogue was recently awarded the Spike Lee Production Award and will be Scott’s feature length motion picture debut.
