Charles Turner
Charles Turner's love for Jazz began in high school when he joined and perfumed in the Downbeat winning Vocal Jazz Ensemble. A pivotal moment for Charles was being accepted into the Prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass and awarded a full scholarship. During his time at Berklee, Charles had the wonderful opportunity to study and perform with Grammy Award winning drummer and educator Terri Lynn Carrington as well as Dave Samuels, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Joanne Brackeen. He received his Bachelor of Music in 2010.

Charles then decided to relocate to New York City in 2011, to pursue his dream of becoming one of the great jazz singers of his generation, and he has already begun the path to success. Charles has been given the honor of performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall for Legendary Vocalist Bobby McFerrin, and internationally in Germany, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, at the Nancy International Jazz Festival in France.

Winning the award for Best Vocalist two years in a row at The Monterey Jazz Festival and being a finalist in the esteemed Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition, Charles was also invited to be apart of the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program in 2013 where he was afforded an opportunity to work with Jason Moran, Craig Handy, Marc Cary, and to perform at the Kennedy Center.

Tonight we celebrate his new release entitled Dreamers.
This cat can swing and we can't wait to have him grace our stage! See you Uptown at Ginny's.
